Appears a very good alternative at 1st sight. The garmin bike mount does not seem up to the work of caring for your high-priced gps less than demanding conditions particularly as its secured to the handlebar with flimsy seeking nylon ties. I identified the cc strap lock immediately after some hunting. I ordered it because it appeared extra strong. To start with impressions:the ratchet strap is rubber backed to grip the bar and can be launched if important.
I would like it to grip far more tightly - only time will convey to if it keeps its situation on rough tracks. The ball mount enables for switching in between portrait and landscape. Now to the gps holder. It has slots that match the garmin and a locking bar that is meant to click on into the slot on the garmin. Sad to say the holder isn't sufficiently curved for this bar to lock into the slot.

Garmin bike mount. I like the fixing strap rather than zip ties which come with the more commonly available mount. However there are 2 ball joints to allow the position to be adjusted. The upper one is too loose has no means of tightening and so with the weight of the garmin it judders and tilts when you don't want it to - a real nuisance. Can't really see why the one lower ball joint (which can be tightened) would not do.
Also the shank between the 2 joints looks as if it won't last long as getting the garmin in and out is tricky as it is quite stiff and i fear the mount will break before long.
