Cheap Garmin Nuvi 1340 4.3" Sat Nav with UK and Western Europe Maps

Review and Buying Guide of Cheap Garmin Nuvi 1340 4.3

Garmin 1340. I ordered this device right after my garmin street pilot (which had worked properly) gave up soon after eight many years. I went by means of most of the critiques, only to find i was still not certain what to do. All of the models, and can make, seemed to have some thing erroneous in accordance to some people. I realised that they are anticipating, considerably as well considerably from what is following all a tool.

I wished uk and europe mapping to navigate. This unit performs wonderful out of the box, depart it alone to do the occupation, and very seriously consider not heading for the absolutely free update. If you do want to update, use it for a few months very first. Even so updates are up to 18 months, or much more powering anyway, and are only as great as the info provided to the facts foundation organizations. My earlier garmin cost just less than £1000, so for £90 for this a person, i counsel you use it for a handful of several years, and just invest in yet another relatively than updating.

Pressure saver. I purchased the garmin nuvi 1340 2days just before leaving for a 3 7 days holiday break in france. It was marvellous. We travelled through belgium into france. Easily round paris.

South to orleans on to the dordogne space, west to lyon (no difficulties finding lodge in centre of the city), into switzerland to geneva, south to the french alps, north into germany and home via the netherlands. We applied countrywide routes, largely preventing the motorways and autobans. Aside from some incredibly funny pronunciations of various place names and confusion when climbing up pretty twisty roads in the alps, igarmin nuvi 1340 widescreen sat nav with uk & western europe (22 countries)t proved to be a quite handy merchandise which was reasonably simple to use. I would , even so advocate that you carry a highway map as well in order that a whole photo comprehension of place and key sites to head for are apparent to you.

  • Garmin Nuvi 1340 Sat-Nav. Widescreen, obvious map, straightforward to use and the audio recommendations are very clear, and these not only convey to you which way to flip, but also the name of the highway you are turning into. Velocity digicam notifications, the velocity restrict you are in and the genuine velocity indications are beneficial. If you know the route and don't want the audio instructions, you can just go to the map and it will display your vehicle on the route and still give velocity digital camera warnings. On the other hand, it is not best. For occasion, it occasionally tells you to convert right but in truth you want to comply with the road round the bend (the 'straight on' road is basically a remaining convert). Also, the textual content which briefly pops up when the speed digital camera chimes go off (double ding) is alternatively little. This text is beneficial in that it advises irrespective of whether a mounted or typical pace digicam is looming, or a cellular camera zone. In this zone, a single ding sounds each and every couple of seconds if you are executing particularly the limit (or in excess of). In my check out it should not audio at the authorized restrict. Also, it would be helpful to have a mute 'button' on the map screen for conditions where by you know most of the route but want aid near the stop. However, even with these slight foibles i am really pleased with the products. .

Does What It Suggests On the Box. For:- as the title indicates, it does what its intended to. But what really impressed mewas how promptly it re-routes you should you require to just take a diversion. I have borrowedan older design gamin from a good friend from time to time but this cerainly does the trick. Againt:- the only little criticism, even although it has a reasonable sized display, isthat the qwerty touch monitor can be a minor fiddly to strike the proper letter / essential at instances. This could be manufactured better if a stylus was included, the leading of a pen did the trick for me. Total:- i nonetheless give it a five***** ranking.

Garmin Nuvi 1340. Uncomplicated to use without possessing to retain reading through the instruction in comparison to lots of other people that i have found. Also less costly. Lots of options that are not in others and downloaded the totally free updates quickly when registering product or service. Would highly advocate to other folks who are looking for a high-quality sat/nav at a affordable value. .

Conclusion of Garmin Nuvi 1340 4

This is the to start with sat nav i have at any time acquired, so i used rather a little bit of time studying evaluations and speaking to close friends with sat navs. It updates and recalculates routes, when i have purposefully gone the completely wrong way, incredibly quickly. I appreciate that unique men and women have distinctive expectations, but i'm really demanding and wouldn't waste my funds on a pile of tosh, so i can recommend this sat nav. This sat nav is a quite, pretty helpful piece of kit. I have no dilemma with map reading or with british street indicators but i believed this would make life a lot easier.

At instances the pace restrict was 70kmh, while the satnav explained 90kmh, but this was just for quick stretches of highway and was so obviously marked on highway indicators that it was not a dilemma. In retrospect i was lucky not to hit another motor vehicle as i realised i was hunting extra at the satnav than the roadit is established for the default quickest journey location and a couple of instances we looked like we had been coming off the beaten keep track of a bit, but when i looked at a map afterwards we had just slice some corners. I used it regionally right before we went to france to get applied to it and followed our standard routes, even when it attempted to acquire me a different route. The unique map experienced a ton of completely wrong settings for petrol nearby to me but these have been corrected with the download. Widescreen, crystal clear map, effortless to use and the audio guidelines are apparent, and these not only notify you which way to transform, but also the identify of the road you are turning into.

Velocity digital camera notifications, the velocity restrict you are in and the true velocity indications are valuable. If you know the route and really don't want the audio instructions, you can just go to the map and it will display your automobile on the route and even now give speed camera warnings. For instance, it often tells you to transform proper but in point you need to have to follow the highway spherical the bend (the 'straight on' road is basically a left change). Also, it would be helpful to have a mute 'button' on the map display screen for cases exactly where you know most of the route but have to have assistance close to the conclude. Againt:- the only compact criticism, even however it has a fair sized screen, isthat the qwerty contact display can be a very little fiddly to hit the right letter / essential at occasions.

Excellent device, has some fantastic features and mapping quite delighted right until a new journey to yorkshire the device switched alone off at a very important level and skipped my motorway convert. Because writing the initial evaluate have experienced significantly extra use of the device and assume considering that executing a application upgrade by using garmin loader it seems a good deal much better and doesnt seem to be to switch off so generally, still does it ocassionally but have learnt to are living with it and guess its the device. Nonetheless assume its a fantastic sat nav, has speedy re routing (if you choose the incorrect convert and so on)and the targeted traffic is very good way too. Tried out the pedestrian method a few of instances in nottingham and london but need to have time to get utilized to it but it looks to get the job done alright, the spoken route is genuinely helpful and the motorway junction icon (will come on in top rated left of screen as you around the junction from about 1 mile) and it is only an one inch icon not the entire screen. A actually should have sat nav, improved to four stars.

I did a ton of research on sat navs just before i determined on this 1 and have not been dissatisfied. The issue is that if you can find a important highway that it is familiar with, i possibly will never want to use the sat nav, but when you can find a smaller lane that i'm not particularly positive how to reach and a sat nav would be practical, then it will not know the lane. This benefits in me investing time making use of google maps before i established off, printing a map off, using it to my car and moving into all the around by streets till there is certainly just one it recognises. You have to zoom out to get your bearings, then depart the map and as a result of to a different browse map. At this point you have to hold zooming in to the location, hoping you bear in mind particularly wherever it was on the prior route map.

The only challenge getting that even nevertheless i current when i received it, it misses lots of of the speed cameras. I purchased this to swap my outdated er garmin sat nav. It is also enabled for eco routing which finds the most gas successful route for you. I have not had a sat nav before so can't compare the garmin nuvi 1340 towards any other make. I have been amazed by the velocity of satellite pick up and the pretty fast velocity of recalculation should really i deviate from the prepared route.

The proposed routes are practically usually what i would think about the very best routes in my trials with this satnav. I are living in norfolk and this sat nav is ideal but if i was dwelling in the dwelling counties with regular motorway use i would have opted for the 1390t product which is generally the 1340 additionally junction watch and site visitors updates. The 1340 is an outstanding sat nav so why do i only give it 3 stars. . It is simply because garmin give a 60 day newest maps guarantee and they have a challenge. Lots of reviewers have not documented download challenges but quite a few reviewers have and the sat nav message boards also highlight garmin people who have experienced tons of challenges.

Some times later on , soon after no reply, i phoned garmin uk and spoke to a nice woman who mentioned the emailed log would have been forwarded to garmin usa and that it could get one more week or more for any reply (i nonetheless have not had a reply as i kind this). I talked over the problem with her and she mentioned i could send the sat nav to garmin uk (at southampton) at my price and they would install the maps and return it to me at their expenditure - so this is what i did. Garmin uk have current the maps and sent the unit back to me - without having extended hold off so excellent marks for garmin uk but oh what a stress ( and more value). Lots of reviewers of garmin satnavs highlight the simple fact that the cable to join the satnav to the personal computer is not provided with the satnav and has to bought individually - could it be that garmin do not want us to attempt and obtain the most recent maps due to the fact of the effectively documented difficulties???.For this reason only a few stars. Have constantly appreciated working with maps to navigate so despite the fact that i like technologies, i kept away from sat navs.

Have appreciated using it for a few trips all around the uk and even shown shorter routes to operate. I bought a garmin nuvi 1340 immediately after several months of looking for a sat nav loaded with european mapping for a reasonable cost. As i didn't will need a sat nav with bluetooth or considerable targeted traffic reviews, the 1340 appeared to healthy the invoice flawlessly. three inch widescreen sat nav which attributes lane assist, safety cameras, substantial sensitivity gps receiver with gps, comprehensive poi (position of desire), sd micro slot, textual content to speech and mapping for 22 european international locations, it is a discount at just less than £90 lbs.The security digital camera alerts pop up in the center of the monitor by using a black box partially blocking element of the route by itself, which can be a little bothersome but it's no true huge offer.

Contrary to some sat navs, the protection cameras continue being on the device and do not disappear or develop into disabled just after three or so months just after purchase, forcing you to just take out a membership if you want to continue to keep them. Eliminating the car or truck charger from your cars and trucks 12 volt ability resource will prompt the 1340 to demonstrate you a concept stating that the unit will switch off immediately immediately after 30 seconds however the message does give you the option of either leaving the unit switched on or turning the electricity off. As soon as the unit is switched on you are greeted with the garmin logo ahead of the screen modifications to `loading maps', then the display screen shows a information which asks you not to function your garmin although driving, this full course of action normally takes all over 30 seconds from the time you to start with press the electric power button. Once you press `agree' the display screen improvements to the primarymenu which features lots of access details to various capabilities and sub menus. Battery everyday living will depend drastically on how the units screen brightness level is set, i've established mine at 30 % when on battery manner and the battery would seem to very last a very good couple several hours or so.

Great Sat Nav. I purchased this to replace my old er garmin sat nav. What a fantastic change acquires satalites quickly, tracking is fast and route changes are very effective. Easy to program and very friendly to customise. It is also enabled for eco routing which finds the most fuel efficient route for you. .

Doesn't Know Many Streets. I bought a mio navman which lost it's speed camera warnings after 12 months. Wasn't informed when i purchased it that not only do the updates stop after 12 months (which is to be expected) but the ones stored on the unit disappear. As i didn't want to pay out every year i got a refund and purchased this garmin. I've had it a couple of months and it's great if it knows the address. The problem is that most of the streets i input are not recognised and points of interest are not recognised. An example been is that if you try to input a football stadium it doesn't know any. The problem is that if there's a major road that it knows, i probably won't need to use the sat nav, but when there's a small lane that i'm not exactly sure how to reach and a sat nav would be useful, then it doesn't know the lane. This results in me spending time using google maps before i set off, printing a map off, taking it to my car and entering all the near by streets until there's one it recognises. If i had to do this on my old mio i could then click on the unnamed street and all would be ready to go. You can't do this on the garmin. You have to zoom out to get your bearings, then leave the map and through to a separate browse map. At this point you have to keep zooming in to the area, hoping you remember exactly where it was on the previous route map. If your lucky enough to find it then you can click where you want to go. At this point the garmin works well doing it's job. The only problem being that even though i updated when i received it, it misses many of the speed cameras. I think if i could have tested this out first i would not have purchased it. I tried a tomtom and that seemed to work aswell as my mio and as you don't need to subscribe to safety cameras, so that would be my first choice. .
